This paper presents design and implementation of a biometric authentication-based Internet-of-Things (IoT) motorcycle ignition control system. This system incorporates R305 fingerprint, Arduino UNO and a relay control unit to create a system that is safe and easy to use in order to ignite the car. The authentication procedure makes sure that an authorized user is the one who has the ability to start the vehicle and significantly reduces unauthorized ignition probability. The architecture focuses on the in-module processing and encrypted communication among modules. The proposed architecture is responsive and reliable under varied environmental factors and an authentication success rate of 98% is gained in a processing time of 1.5 seconds, through experimental tests.
