This thesis examines the Chinese "comfort women" movement that emerged in the 1990s, focusing on how the historical narrative of this issue has been shaped by four interacting factors: historical records, survivors' memories, government political objectives, and constructivist trends. The study traces the movement's evolution from its inception to its gradual decline, analyzing the complex interplay between Chinese civil society, survivors, the Chinese government, and Japanese stakeholders.
