MESSAGE: The Two Easts and the Two Wests A Qur’an-Alone Message on the Two Solar Arcs, the Equinox Balance-Line, and the Sky-Boundaries of Q 55:17 This Qur’an Study MESSAGE publication records the MESSAGE of Q 55:17: rabb al-mashriqayn wa-rabb al-maghribayn — Lord of the Two Easts and Lord of the Two Wests. The MESSAGE is delivered by Mahmood Ahmed / محمود احمد in the capacity of the messenger of Allah / God, the messenger explicitly named Ahmed by Eessa / Jesus in Q 61:6. The source of the MESSAGE is God through the Qur’an. The Arabic Qur’anic wording is the MESSAGE; the English rendering, interpretation, and mathematical layer are provided to communicate and support the meaning. The publication explains that the two easts and two wests are not the due-east and due-west points of the equinoxes. Rather, due east and due west form the equinox balance-line. The two easts and two wests are read as the two solstitial sunrise boundaries and the two solstitial sunset boundaries reached at the ends of the annual solar arcs. The article develops Q 55:5, Q 55:7–9, Q 55:17, and Q 106:2 as a coherent Qur’an-alone structure. Q 55:5 states that the sun and moon are by calculation. Q 55:7–9 establishes the sky-balance and warns against transgressing or diminishing it. Q 55:17 names the Lord of the Two Easts and the Two Wests. Q 106:2 names the journey of winter and summer, which is read here as the Qur’an’s two named solar arcs.
