Effect of Discovery Channel Programmes on the Environmental Knowledge of the Children

Abstract

The present environment is in a dilapidated condition. The TV can play an important role in educating the people for the environmental protection. Discovery Channel TV programmes were shown to the children in the age group of 12 – 19, taking Age, Gender, Parental income, Parental Profession, TV watching habits, and Time spent in Nature. Pre-Test and Post-Tests were conducted on their Environmental Knowledge. The results show that there is an improvement in the environmental knowledge after exposure to TV programmes.
