Metal Matrix Composites (MMCs) have been progressively replaced the conventional materials in structural engineering applications owing to their exceptional specific strength, making them promising alternatives to traditional materials especially in the automotive, aerospace and defense sectors. Among these, Al/TiC composites, which consist of an aluminum matrix reinforced with titanium carbide (TiC), exhibit several desirable mechanical properties. This study focuses on fabricating Al/TiC composites using the stir casting method, known for promoting homogeneous dispersal of reinforcement particles within the matrix, although localized porosity may take place. Titanium carbide is used as the reinforcement due to its remarkable density and high melting point such as 4.93 g/cm3 and 3160°C, respectively. The project explores the processing of Al/TiC composites through stir casting and its machining characteristics using Wire-cut Electrical Discharge Machining (WEDM). In addition, the internal microstructure of the Al/TiC composites is observed using Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM).
