Green Analytical Chemistry (GAC) is a new area within analytical science that aims to create methods that are environmentally friendly, safe, and sustainable. Its primary goal is to cut down the use of harmful chemicals, reduce the amount of waste produced, lower energy use, and ensure the safety of lab workers, all while keeping the accuracy and dependability of test results. As more industries like pharmaceuticals, environmental management, and chemicals push for sustainable methods, green analytical techniques have become essential for decreasing the environmental damage caused by lab activities. This review offers a detailed look at Green Analytical Chemistry, including its meaning, goals, history, range, and the twelve key principles that shape the creation of eco-conscious analytical methods. The article also examines the main tools used to measure the greenness of analytical processes, such as the National Environmental Methods Index (NEMI), Analytical Eco-Scale Assessment (ESA), Green Analytical Procedure Index (GAPI), AGREE, and the Green Certificate Modified Eco-Scale. These tools allow scientists to compare different analytical methods based on their environmental impact and sustainability. Additionally, the review covers key uses of GAC in pharmaceutical testing, cancer detection, identifying heavy metals, monitoring the environment, and analysing blood samples. Implementing green analytical practices helps cut down on chemical waste and running costs, and it also helps meet regulatory standards and supports sustainable development efforts. In summary, Green Analytical Chemistry is a contemporary method that combines good analytical performance with environmental care, making it a crucial part of future work in pharmaceutical research, quality assurance, and healthcare.
