The Clinical Genetics Society working party on DNA banking was set up after an informal meeting of representatives of Regional Genetics Services sponsored by the Muscular Dystrophy Group of Great Britain, which took place in London on 20 November 1987. We wish to thank the Muscular Dystrophy Group for promoting debate on this important issue.
