Professor Tomasz Spyt was a Consultant Cardiothoracic Surgeon at University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust, based at Glenfield Hospital until his retirement in 2016. He was appointed Professor of Cardiovascular Sciences at the University of Leicester in 2007 and held an honorary professorship at Loughborough University. He was part of the team that performed the first TAVI procedure in the UK at Glenfield Hospital.
