This chapter argues that narratives and counter-narratives depend on each other, need each other and co-create each other. By examining two particular types, nostalgic stories and conspiracy theories, the author proposes that narratives and counter-narratives are elements of narrative ecologies and proposes a number of distinct narrative ecologies fostering different configurations of narrative patterns.
