End-of-life care combines professional clinical nursing with science-based psychological care to alleviate physical and mental suffering of terminally ill patients the greatest extent possible.It aims to improve the quality of life in their final stage and allow patients to pass away with dignity.In Japan, end-of-life care began its development in the latter half of the 1970s.This paper, from the perspective of Japan's relevant policies and systems, analyzes and summarizes Japan's measures in end-of-life care.It highlights the existence of groups in need of care and attention from society.
