The article deals with the issue of neo-mythologism from a philosophical point of view as related to the category of mythological. The relevance of the study is due to the lack of differentiation of this concept in the field of philosophy. The article makes a meaningful attempt to reveal neo-mythologism as a philosophical phenomenon that originated in the Romanticism era, suggests that Romantic religious-philosophical works can be considered neo-mythologic. A typological comparison of archaic leitmotifs in the works of fairy tale writers E.T. Hoffmann and the Brothers Grimm with the mythological patterns of the religious scholar M. Eliade is carried out. The diversity of neo-mythological elements in the works of Romantics is analyzed, different cultural and philosophical layers are compared.
