This paper examines the impact of the language of a leader in the public sector management in Nigeria. It identified poor effective communication, poor attitude to work, lack of team work, and chauvinism as some of the major problems facing public sector management in Nigeria. It views public sector management as the backbone of national development. This paper is content analysis. The paper adopted Goal-setting theory as its framework of analysis. It noted that the development of the public sector will to a great extent reduce the problems of poor service delivery in Nigeria. It argued that language of any organization is a cultural legacy of that very organization with which all forms of human communications are carried out. It is capable of destroying harmonious existence or mending relationships that are fractionalized in the organization. The paper therefore, noted that language of leadership has to be learned, practiced and honoured. It argued for effective and efficient public sector management in Nigeria through effective communication that will lead to increase in socioeconomic conditions of the people living in the Country.
