Abstract Each type of fiber mooring rope has its own engineering applicability, with associated advantages and disadvantages. This information is summarized based on a review of the classification and engineering applications of synthetic fiber ropes. The progress of experimental technologies for synthetic fiber ropes, both domestically and internationally, is introduced. The mechanical behaviors of these ropes, including breaking strength, dynamic stiffness, creep, creep-recovery, creep rupture, and fatigue, are surveyed and reviewed. Based on the above review, future directions and key areas for the development of fiber deepwater mooring ropes are proposed. This paper provides valuable references for the study and application of synthetic fiber mooring ropes.
