Motivation: In vivo X-nuclei MRSI in parallel with high-resolution MRI is challenging in body-oriented applications at 7T. Short proton wavelengths complicate large FOV RF excitation, and low 31P sensitivity demanded endorectal-coil solutions for prostate 31P-MRSI, decreasing patient comfort. Goal(s): pTx MRI and localized sTx 31P-MRS in a single scan session in high BMI volunteers without using endorectal coils or antennas. Approach: We employ a 31P/1H body-array coil designed for body-applications to image the prostate and acquire 31P-MRSI in a single scan-session without use of an endorectal coil. Results: The setup allows high-resolution T2-weighted and homogeneous T1-weighted imaging plus localized 3D 31P-MRSI in the prostate. Impact: 31P-MRSI of the prostate as a possible aid in prostate cancer characterization becomes within reach without the use of an endorectal coil.
