This paper presents a comparative thematic analysis of the works of the two prominent Indian diasporic authors: Chithra Banerjee Divakaruni, and Bharati Mukherjee.Through a close reading of selected novels, includ- ing Divakaruni’s The Mistress of Spices and Queen of Dreams and Mukherjee’s Wife and Jasmine, this study reveals three divergent pathways of the immigrant experience.By analyzing these narratives, the paper argues that these authors collectively offer a multifaceted portrait of the Indian diasporic consciousness, highlighting that there is no singular immigrant experience but a spectrum of responses shaped by gender, history, and personal agency. This study contributes to a deeper understanding of postcolonial and transnational literature by mapping the nuanced ways in which memory and modernity are reconciled in the creation of new, hybrid identities.
