The given article dwells on the comparative analysis of morphological peculiarities of Tajik abstract nouns and their English equivalents. The purpose of the article is to identify and systematize the morphological models of the formation of abstract nouns in both languages, to establish similarities and differences in their structure and functioning. The methods of continuous sampling, contextual and comparative analysis, morphemic analysis was used. The results showed significant differences in the dominant methods of derivation (in Tajik, suffixation prevails, especially from verb stems; in English, suffixation from adjectives and nouns, conversion), the influence of the category of gender on morphology in Tajik, as well as the specificity of semantic groups. The identified patterns contribute to the theory of contrastive linguistics and can be applied in the practice of translation and language teaching.
