Following on from the results of the 2017 evaluation here, the next archaeological requirement was for a watching brief on the groundworks for Plots 1 and 2 of this development site only. This comprised the archaeological monitoring of the excavation of the foundations for these two new dwellings. During the archaeological monitoring of the two house plots, the cuts of three undated pits were recorded. These were considered to be heavily truncated and were sealed by a deep and substantial overlying buried soil or ploughsoil horizon of possible post-medieval date. Evidence was also recorded of possible ploughing activity. The results of this watching brief were consistent with those of the 2017 evaluation. One sherd of Saxo-Norman and two sherds of medieval pottery were recovered form the buried soil or ploughsoil horizon.
