The study examines the complex interplay of politics and natural resource extraction in Côte d'Ivoire, a pivotal Central African nation rich in mineral wealth. The study employs qualitative research methods including interviews with key stakeholders such as government officials, local communities, and industry representatives to gather insights into policy decisions and their effects. Key themes emerged from the data include significant corruption within resource extraction sectors, which often undermines equitable development goals, and community resistance against exploitative practices. The research underscores the critical role of political leadership in shaping resource management strategies that can either facilitate sustainable economic growth or exacerbate social inequalities. Policy recommendations advocate for enhanced transparency measures to reduce corruption risks and promote more inclusive decision-making processes involving affected communities.
