Post-conflict Sierra Leone faces significant educational challenges in terms of infrastructure, teacher training, and student access to quality education. An action research approach was employed, involving qualitative interviews with educators, focus group discussions with students and parents, and an assessment of existing educational resources. The findings indicate that while there is a substantial increase in the number of schools post-conflict, only 30% of teachers are adequately trained to implement the revised curriculum effectively. Student enrollment has risen by 25%, but retention rates remain low, particularly among girls and those from rural areas. The current educational system in Sierra Leone is struggling to provide equitable access to quality education due to teacher shortages and inadequate resources. Immediate steps should include targeted teacher training programmes focusing on curriculum implementation skills, alongside increased investment in school infrastructure and support for student retention strategies.
