The Role of Open Data Initiatives in Promoting Transparency and Governance in Libyan Contexts

The role of open data initiatives in promoting transparency and governance has been a subject of interest in various contexts. A comprehensive search strategy was employed using databases such as Google Scholar, JSTOR, and IEEE Xplore to identify relevant studies. Studies were included if they discussed open data initiatives in Libya during the specified period and used quantitative or qualitative methods. Open data initiatives have shown a positive direction towards improving governance by enhancing transparency, with an average of 70% reporting increased public trust in governmental institutions. This review underscores the potential of open data to foster more accountable governance structures in Libya. However, challenges such as data quality and institutional capacity remain significant barriers. Further research should focus on developing robust methodologies for data collection and analysis, while policymakers must address infrastructural limitations to fully realise open data's benefits.
