The study examines savings group banking models in Mozambique rural townships to support food security entrepreneurs. An ethnographic approach was employed, involving participant observation and semi-structured interviews with entrepreneurs and community leaders. Savings groups led to a significant increase in savings by over 50% among participants compared to pre-group levels. The study highlights the effectiveness of savings group models in fostering financial stability and economic growth in rural Mozambique. Policy makers should consider replicating these models with additional support for infrastructure development.
