This study aims to present a comparative analysis of the financial performance of State Bank of India (SBI) and HDFC Bank with special reference to Coimbatore City. The research evaluates and compares the financial strength, profitability, liquidity, solvency, and operational efficiency of both banks using secondary data collected from annual reports, published financial statements, and RBI reports for a selected period. Ratio analysis and trend analysis are employed as the primary tools to assess performance differences between the public sector bank (SBI) and the private sector bank (HDFC Bank).
