Sustainable tourism business models are increasingly recognised as crucial for economic development in Tanzania's tourism sector. The analysis employs a qualitative approach based on interviews with industry experts and case studies of existing sustainable tourism initiatives across Tanzania. A notable finding is the significant role played by community-based tourism models in increasing local income and preserving cultural heritage, with at least 40% of surveyed businesses experiencing positive economic impacts. While current models show promise, there remains a need for more structured policy frameworks to support these initiatives effectively. Policy recommendations include strengthening community engagement mechanisms and providing financial incentives to encourage the adoption of sustainable practices by tourism operators.
