This report of research by Dr. Sarason and his co-workers is an important contribution to the literature of child development. It deals with a number of questions about the factors that affect school performance and are troubling to the professionals in the health, education and welfare of children. The authors point out that the "test" situation is not confined to school examinations or to administration of psychologic tests; it is pervasive in the life experience of children and adults.
