On Thursday 2 December 2021, United Nations University Institute for the Advanced Study ofSustainability (UNU-IAS) and Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES) convened asession entitled “Landscape Approaches for Biodiversity, Climate Change and Sustainable Development Co-benefits” at the 13th International Forum for Sustainable Asia and the Pacific (ISAP2021). The session consisted of a keynote speech, two case study presentations from Indonesia and Argentina and a panel discussion. It identified key challenges andopportunities that landscape approach or socio-ecological production landscapes and seascapes(SEPLS), face and how it can contribute to both biodiversity conservation and climate mitigation and adaptation.This issue brief summarises key points from the session, which may contribute to futureinvestigations into this important topic.
