Heterocyclic compounds are an important class of molecules that offer a wide range of research opportunities in organic and medicinal chemistry. The review discusses the synthesis and biological activities of heterocyclic compounds, which are essential in the study of organic chemistry, as heterocyclic chemistry accounts for almost half of all organic molecules and has many uses beyond their remarkable properties. Numerous heterocycles biomolecules include vitamins, natural products, medications, biological molecules such as DNA and RNA, and biologically active compounds with antifungal, antidepressant, anti-HIV, antitumor, antidiabetic, antiviral, antibiotic, antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, antimalarial, insecticidal, and herbicidal properties. Heterocyclic compounds have a number of significant applications. Heterocyclic compounds are widely used in biochemistry, as is the case with medications, agrochemicals, sanitizers, antiordinators, semiconductors, waterproofing agents, and veterinary products. With a range of biological actions, such as antibacterial, antitubercular, antimalarial, anticonvulsant, anticancer, anti-oxidant, antidiabetic, etc., it has become a very significant pharmacophore. In symmetric catalysis, heterocycles also serve as synthetic intermediates, organic catalysts, protective groups, and chiral auxiliaries for metals and minerals. As a result, researchers are very interested in developing new and effective methods for synthesizing heterocycles. The field of heterocyclic chemistry has been steadily observing an increase in interest in synthesis in relation to the hunt for pharmaceutical active ingredients and the creation of innovative reaction techniques that could not only reduce the number of steps in the reaction to a single synthesis operation but also enable the reaction to be extremely environmentally benign while still offering the benefits of economic viability and atom economy
