Archaeological Watching Brief Report - Sledging Field, Calne, SN11 9TD

Due to the site being located within an archaeologically sensitive area, a programme of investigation and recording during groundwork was secured by way of a condition of planning. The programme of investigation monitored all groundwork associated with the permitted works. All spoil was visually examined for the purpose of finds retrieval. The programme of work was carried out between the 26th January - 3rd February 2022, in dry bright conditions. No archaeological features were identified on site and no finds were recovered from the development area, or from the spoil, which was monitored throughout. The results of the monitoring were negative, and no further investigation or recording was recommended in conjunction with the permitted development.
