Rising demand for paediatric dermatology services contrasts with limited workforce capacity, underscoring the need to strengthen training and engagement in the specialty. We highlight how significant variability in clinical exposure, with fragmented and inconsistent training experiences contributing to gaps between theoretical competence and real-world confidence, particularly in complex and systemic aspects of care. Many trainees lack confidence beyond common conditions and a substantial proportion do not intend to incorporate paediatric dermatology into future practice, raising concerns about workforce sustainability.
