The evaluation fieldwork comprised the excavation of 18 trenches, each measuring 30m long by 1.8m wide, in the locations shown on Figure 2. The trenches were located to test geophysical anomalies and to provide a representative sample of the remainder of the site. Trenches were set out on OS National Grid co-ordinates using Leica GPS and scanned for live services by trained CA staff using CAT and genny equipment, in accordance with the CA Safe System of Work for avoiding underground services. Overburden was stripped from the trenches by a mechanical excavator fitted with a toothless grading bucket. All machining was conducted under archaeological supervision to the top of the natural substrate. Topsoil and subsoil were stored separately adjacent to each trench. Records were maintained in accordance with CA Technical Manual 1: Fieldwork Recording Manual. No deposits were identified that required sampling. As an artefactually negative site, CA will deposit the digital archive with Archaeology Data Service. This archive will be compiled in accordance with the ADS Instructions for Depositors (2022). The archives (digital) will be prepared and deposited in accordance with: " Guidelines for essential archive tasks and the preparation of archives (CA 2024); " Standard and guidance for the creation, compilation, transfer and deposition of archaeological archives (CIfA 2014; updated October 2020); and " Standard and Guide to Best Practice for Archaeological Archiving in Europe: EAC Guidelines 1 (Europae Archaeologia Consilium 2019). In June and July 2025, Cotswold Archaeology carried out an archaeological evaluation of land at Tinkers End, Winslow, Buckinghamshire. A total of eighteen trenches were excavated. Despite the archaeological potential no archaeological remains were identified.
