This interview is a part of the “Punjabi in BC” oral history project (2019-2023). “Punjabi in BC” is comprised of interviews with over 50 K-12 teachers, language advocates, journalists, and writers who have contributed to the life of the Punjabi language in British Columbia, Canada. The subject of this interview, Sukhwant Hundal, born in 1956, moved to Canada in 1975. He was a Punjabi Lecturer at UBC from 2008 to 2019 and is a prominent Punjabi prose writer. Hundal has written over 50 research articles on topics such as violence against Indo-Canadian women, environmental issues, consumerism, and war. This interview with Sukhwant Hundal is divided into three segments and includes one promotional video. In the interview, Sukhwant Hundal speaks about his education, his literary activities and publications, his contributions to the journal, "Watanoṅ Dūr”, involvement with the Punjabi Literary Association, and the founding of Vancouver Sath, a theatrical and cultural organization.
