The state is the most organized social community and the reference object and subject of international security that exists and functions in a certain environment with which it constantly interacts. Numerous, different and changing factors and conditions in the environment affect its survival and sustainable development to varying degrees. Namely, there are numerous social and natural dangers in the environment of the state, and the bearers of many social dangers are very much occupied with the issue of discovering its vital secrets. For this purpose, they attach supreme importance to intelligence activity, the results of which they use to undertake other threatening activities against their national values. Such knowledge results in the state establishing a national security system aimed, first of all, at the defense of national values from external and internal secret and public threatening activities. The counterintelligence component of the national security system performs the task of preventing subjects of danger from revealing its secrets. Only the successful execution of that task contributes to the optimal state of the state's national security, and any omission can gradually or suddenly collapse the state's security. In accordance with what has been stated, the paper modestly researched, described and explained the types of possible influences of the counterintelligence component on the national security of the state. The basic question in the paper refers to the influence and importance of intelligence and counter-intelligence activities on the functioning of the national security system and the importance of these activities in other areas of life. In the methodological framework, the work will synthesize the methods of studying the content of documents, analysis, synthesis, generalization, abstraction, hypothetical-deductive and historical.
