Assessment of the impact of the proposed development on nearby heritage assets The proposed building will be experienced against a backdrop of other sympathetically designed modern buildings. The wall to the church is the closest listed structure and the water tower is the closest listed building to the proposed development. The part of Burr House that is located closest is entirely of modern construction. It is considered that the proposal is in keeping with the other modern buildings around Shiplake College and there will be little impact to any heritage assets in the vicinity. The proposed building will be a positive addition in that it will replace a small modern wooden building that is considered to be somewhat out of place and detracts from the significance of the nearby heritage assets and visual appeal of this part of the college grounds.
