Abstract

Detailed magnetic survey (magnetometry) was chosen as the most efficient and effective method of locating the type of archaeological anomalies which might be expected at this site. All survey techniques followed the guidance set out by CIfA (2020) and the European Bartington Cart System Traverse Interval 1.0m Sample Interval 0.125m A detailed magnetometer survey was conducted over approximately 1.75 hectares off Peakirk Road, Glinton and it has not revealed any features of definite archaeological interest. Linear trends of uncertain origin have been detected; they could be archaeological, though such an interpretation is tentative, and they are most likely to be a result of agricultural or natural processes. A former field boundary, corroborated with historic maps, has been identified, along with an additional conjectural boundary. Ploughing effects and natural magnetic variations are also present in the results.
