Detailed magnetic survey (magnetometry) was chosen as the most efficient and effective method of locating the type of archaeological anomalies which might be expected at this site. All survey techniques followed the guidance set out by CIfA (2020) and the European Archaeology Council (EAC) (2016). Bartington Cart System Traverse Interval 1.0m Sample Interval 0.125m A detailed magnetometer survey was conducted over approximately 5 hectares to the east of the A16 at Rangell Gate, Spalding and it has not identified any anomalies of definite archaeological interest. Parallel curving linear anomalies and a tentative partial rectilinear feature have been mapped; they are of uncertain origin. Linear anomalies associated with former field divisions have been detected, along with a former pond. Widespread natural variations dominate the data and reflect the tidal flat deposits recorded across the site.
