The present study was conducted on 200 socio economically advantaged and disadvantaged children of both sexes (aged 11 to 13 years) in equal number selected from school located in the urban and rural area of the Patna District for the empirical verification of the hypothesis. (i) Disadvantaged children would have more mechanical interest as compared to their advantaged counterparts. (ii) There would be significant effect of Urban, Rural region on mechanical interest of the children. (iii) There would be significant effect of Sex difference on interests of the respondents. Social Deprivation scale by Dr. Sinha and interest record of Dr. Raghuraj Pal Singh was used for identifying the socially advantaged and disadvantaged children in the light of the findings. The obtained result was in agreement with hypothesis.
