Abstract This study assesses the impact of two-way interactive television (ITV) on the collegiate learning experience. Using multiple regression analysis, the authors examine student performance in a Principles of Cost Accounting course taught in traditional and ITV classrooms. The study also assesses student attitudes relative to the ITV experience. Initially, students in the traditional course outperformed the on-campus ITV students on exams. However, as the ITV students gained experience, the negative effect diminished and became insignificant. Further, off-campus ITV students scored significantly higher on all exams than did students in the traditional setting. Overall, ITV students were favorably impressed with the ITV course. However, given a choice between traditional and ITV courses, students were for the most part unsure if they would take another ITV course.
