Melvin M. Scheinman is Professor Emeritus of Medicine and holds the Walter H. Shorenstein Endowed Chair in Cardiology at the University of California, San Francisco. He directs the Cardiac Arrhythmia Genomics Clinic at UCSF, focusing on patient care and research for genetic arrhythmia syndromes. He performed the first catheter ablation in humans in 1983 and has contributed to the development of radiofrequency energy applications for cardiac arrhythmias.
