Bernard Lown

Bernard Lown was a cardiologist and inventor who served as Professor of Cardiology Emeritus at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and Senior Physician Emeritus at Brigham and Women's Hospital. He developed the direct current defibrillator for cardiac resuscitation. He founded the Lown Cardiovascular Center and was a co-founder of International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War.
