His research focuses on the impact of exercise rehabilitation in persons with coronary heart disease, compliance with interventions, and health-related quality of life as a patient-reported outcome measure. He has developed two health-related quality of life questionnaires for patients with heart disease, the MacNew in 1991 and the HeartQoL in 2014.
