Johannes Backs is the Director of the Institute of Experimental Cardiology at Heidelberg University Hospital and a DZHK Professor for Epigenetic Regulatory Mechanisms in the Myocardium. He serves as a group leader in the Heart Development and Disease research group at the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) and heads the Heidelberg branch of the Helmholtz Institute for Translational AngioCardioScience (HI-TAC) at the Max Delbrück Center. His research investigates how epigenetic enzymes and metabolic pathways contribute to heart failure and related conditions.
