Gaietà Permanyer-Miralda is an emeritus physician in the Unit of Epidemiology within the Cardiology Service at Hospital Vall d'Hebron in Barcelona. He is currently active in the ISOR group at the Agency for Health Quality and Assessment of Catalonia (AQuAS). He developed the Outcomes Research Unit within the cardiology department at Hospital Vall d’Hebron in 1994 and has conducted research on diagnostic algorithms and outcomes in pericardial and valvular heart disease.
