Risto Kerkelä, MD, PhD, is Professor of Cardiovascular Pharmacology and leader of the Molecular Cardiology research group at the University of Oulu and Oulu University Hospital in Finland. He has held past affiliations with Thomas Jefferson University (2005-2008) and other Finnish institutions including the University of Helsinki. His research addresses cardiac fibrosis, remodeling, cardiomyopathy, and cardiotoxicity associated with cancer therapeutics such as imatinib and sunitinib.
