This study examines the representation of science field skills in Galaktik Tayfa (Galactic Crew), an animated film from the widely popular Turkish series Rafadan Tayfa. Using a qualitative case study design, the film’s dialogues, character behaviors, and plot elements were analyzed through content analysis based on the science field skills framework defined by the Turkish Ministry of National Education. A total of 150 instances of science field skills were identified and evaluated in terms of their representation frequency and scientific accuracy. The findings indicate a clear thematic hierarchy: foundational skills such as Scientific Observation and Scientific Inquiry dominate the narrative, while more formal processes, including Experimentation, appear in simplified, context-dependent forms. Skills requiring higher levels of abstraction—such as Operational Definition, Scientific Model Building, and Inductive Reasoning—were entirely absent. Moreover, 87% of all representations were coded as scientifically accurate. These results highlight the strong potential of animated films in supporting basic scientific practices, while emphasizing the need for balanced and accurate content. The study concludes with recommendations for educators, content creators, and future research on the use of popular media in informal science education.
