ABSTRACT Genotoxicity is the term evolved by hazardous substance‐mediated damage of genetic material of living organisms. Modern scientific and technological developments have substantially unraveled the mysteries of genotoxicity. Genotoxicity research helps with risk assessment and regulation, disease knowledge, and developing preventative plans. The scientific fraternity desires to explore genotoxicity‐related disease prevention, diagnosis, and treatment approaches through technological advancements and genetic understanding. The implementation of high‐throughput screening techniques that enable rapid evaluation of genotoxic potential as well as the use of genomic approaches to discover genetic biomarkers and comprehend the mechanisms of DNA damage and repair are examples of advancements. Future research will concentrate on combining genotoxicity with other toxicological endpoints, investigating the genotoxicity of novel chemicals, and improving risk assessment methods by incorporating innovative scientific discoveries. Researchers may advance our understanding of genotoxicity and secure human health and the environment in the years to come by addressing these issues and adhering to these future approaches. The present review is centrally focussed on an overview of the mechanisms, real‐world incidences, difficulties, and potential future avenues in genotoxicity research which open new avenues for designing novel methods to diagnose and prevent genotoxicity.
