ABSTRACT The three‐vector model predictive current control (MPCC) has advantages such as fast dynamic response and small current ripple, but it is easily affected by motor parameter perturbations. To improve the stability and robustness of permanent magnet synchronous linear motor (PMLSM) under parameter perturbations, this paper proposes a novel three vector MPCC based on super‐twisting sliding mode observer (STSMO). Based on the mathematical model of PMLSM under parameter perturbation in synchronous rotating coordinate system, a new super local model is established. To avoid parameter perturbations and improve control accuracy, an STSMO is designed to online identify unknown disturbances and achieve feed‐forward compensation. Both simulation and experimental comparisons are conducted between the proposed method and the traditional MPCC. The results show that the proposed method has strong robustness and improves the dynamic response performance of the PMLSM control system.
