Understanding Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI): Employee Impact on Social Sustainability, and Implementation Challenges

DEI is a guiding framework that advocates for equitable treatment and meaningful inclusion of all individuals, particularly those from historically marginalized or underrepresented groups within the workplace. It emphasizes ensuring that people of all backgrounds, identities, abilities, and experiences have equal opportunities to participate, contribute, and thrive. In today’s increasingly diverse and interconnected world, organizations across the globe are prioritizing DEI initiatives. This study offers a comprehensive review of the impact of DEI on both the internal and external environments of organizations, particularly in promoting social sustainability. It examines how DEI supports the psychological well-being of stakeholders and boosts employee productivity. The research also addresses the challenges organizations face in implementing DEI and explains why overcoming these obstacles is essential.
