An overview of the security issues of wireless Wi-Fi networks that threaten the protection of authenticity, confidentiality, integrity and availability of wireless transmissions from malicious attacks are presented. The features of the «evil twin» attack on the extensible authentication protocol in secure WPA2 Wi-Fi are described. A methodology for using a spectrum analyzer and Chanalyzer software to detect network devices and identify a specific device transmitting a signal over the air is presented. The methodology is effective in detecting devices operating at known frequencies and is quite suitable for security testing, detecting devices transmitting data over the air, tracking and recording this data.
