This study explores the dynamic interplay between preserving heritage and embracing modernity within the context of Annang music traditions in contemporary Nigeria. Annang music, deeply rooted in the cultural fabric of the Annang people, represents a rich tapestry of history, identity, and social expression. Amidst the rapid globalisation and technological advancements shaping modern society, Annang music faces both challenges and opportunities in maintaining its authenticity while adapting to contemporary realities. This study delves into the strategies employed by Annang musicians and communities to preserve their musical heritage amidst evolving societal dynamics. It examines how traditional musical practices are being revitalized and reinterpreted to resonate with younger generations and accommodate modern sensibilities. This study offers insights into the complex dynamics of heritage preservation and modernization in the context of Annang music traditions in Nigeria through a multidisciplinary approach encompassing ethnomusicology, cultural studies, and anthropology.
