The article analyzes the artistic and aesthetic function of occasional compound verbs, graphically formed with a hyphen, in the authorial style of Dyusenbek Nakipov’s novel “The Circle of Ashes: A Novel of Intentions”. It has been revealed that verbal compounds contribute to the creation of multi-layered, expressively rich depictions of events. The fusion of verbs into a single compound in the Russian-language text of the novel is influenced by the morphological features of the Kazakh language, in which compound or analytic verbal constructions are typical. These constructions perform a unified syntactic function and denote a “single event”. This reflects the transcultural nature of the author’s artistic worldview. The method of componential analysis of the compound verbs’ semantics makes it possible to identify common semes in the verbal components. It has been established that paratactic relations emerge between the elements of the compound, such as the sequence or simultaneity of actions. One of the elements in the compound may carry the primary semantic load, adding expressiveness and emotional intensity to the described event and thereby enhancing the reader’s perception. The use of occasional compound verbs in Nakipov’s text creates a unique syntactic structure, a distinctive rhythm, and an intonational pattern, conveying the interaction of various semiotic systems – music, choreography, and verbal signs. The use of verbal compounds in Nakipov’s literary style represents a unique authorial transcultural device.
