In accordance with the Federal State Standard, independence and initiative are personal results that should be formed at the stage of primary general education. These are planned universal educational actions, on which not only the successful socialization of students in the educational environment depends, but also all educational and extracurricular activities, and in the future, the successful professional development of young people. Based on a theoretical analysis of the problem and her own pedagogical observations, the author tries to determine effective ways to develop the independence of modern children. The results of the experimental work indicate that the most effective in this regard are problem-based learning methods, active and interactive technologies, project activities, etc. The article presents the results of experimental work on the formation of independence in students of grade 1 «A» when studying the course «The World Around Us!. They indicate that even six months of using the proposed methods for developing independence in first-graders contributed to positive qualitative and quantitative dynamics.
